On behalf of its members and the broader toy industry, the Toy Industry Association (TIA) positions itself in front of the media, providing facts and information about the rigorous safety requirements for all toys sold in the United States and explaining the steps that toy companies take to demonstrate their long-standing commitment to efforts that will help to keep children safe from harm while they are at play.
TIA has developed a comprehensive series of statements about toy safety and related issues and works throughout the season to keep these materials in front of media outlets across the country and distribute them at relevant press conferences.
As an additional resource, TIA has published an article on its consumer-facing website, ToyInfo.org, to educate families and other caregivers about choosing safe, age-appropriate toys for children during the holiday shopping season.
Members of the TIA public relations team are available to provide counsel regarding the appropriate action to be taken should a company learn that one of their products is included on an NGO list. In the event that a member of the media reaches out to a toy company for comment, employees are encouraged to take the reporter’s name, publication, and deadline, and immediately pass this information along to TIA.
The following communications team members are leading TIA’s outreach to media during the holidays and throughout the year:
TIA’s media contacts for holiday toy safety messaging: Ken Seiter vice president of strategic communications
Adrienne Appell senior manager of public relations
TIA’s resource for general toy safety questions or comments: Al Kaufman senior vice president of technical affairs

Beyond the toy safety issues described above, TIA continues to monitor a number of related media announcements that affect the toy industry and will continue to update its members as new information becomes available. |
